The fact of existence of the dramatical collection of the Russian theatre company can be confirmed the earliest script of play, dated from 1754. This script bears the note by I.Dmitrevsky 'From the library of the Russian Court Theatre' on its title-page.

The first documentary evidence of existence of the library is the report in the official papers of the Central Administration of the Imperial Theatres of the 16th February, 1784, about purchase a new bookcase with inner lock for the best conservation of the Russian books and printed musics.
